The Rover is an upcoming Australian dystopian crime drama film written and directed by David Michôd and based on a story by David Michôd and Joel Edgerton. It is in a futuristic western that takes place in the Australian outback. The film features Guy Pearce, Robert Pattinson, Scoot McNairy, Anthony Hayes, Gillian Jones, Susan Prior, Nash Edgerton, David Field, Tawanda Manyimo, Jamie Fallon and Samuel F. Lee. The film will have its premiere out of competition in Midnight screening at 2014 Cannes Film Festival on May 18, 2014.
Plot
In a dangerous near-future in the Australian desert, Eric (Pearce) has left everything behind, but when his last possession is stolen by a gang of dangerous criminals, Eric sets off on a hunt to find them. Along the journey he enlists the help of Rey (Pattinson), a naïve and injured member of the gang, who was left behind.
